Mainly directed to student teachers, also professional teachers who may wish to update their knowledge of educational technology; it is a goal that this course can help our target learners to weave technology in teaching with software, becoming a natural extension of their learning tools.

REFLECTION

1.   Many college students are presently required to take Computer courses including word processing (Microsoft Office), spreadsheet preparation (Excel), presentation techniques (PowerPoint), etc.  How do you think this will help application of skills needed in Educational Technology 2?

Ø MS WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint presentations helps us to make our works and projects easier and faster. This greatly helps education students to be equipped with the proper knowledge and skills in ordered to cope up with their subjects. These programs are very useful and helpful especially in educational technology because through this, we are able to know how to make presentations creatively, well organize, easier and faster. Moreover, if we know how to use the programs or computer it will be very easy for us to apply for a job.

2.   From those who have done internet surfing/searching/reading, what do the website offer users?

  •  It offers online experience, we as users can also create our own websites since there is already a website that we are free to make our own site.  A Review of Educational Technology 1

“The Educational Technology 1 course has truly paved the way for the learner to become aware, appreciative and equipped to use educational technology tools ranging from traditional to modern educational media.”
In this course, learners are oriented towards averting the dangers of dehumanization which technology brings into societies. There are areas where learners are oriented with and needs to be aware of:

·         Ideological propaganda
·         Pornography
·         Financial fraud
·         Other exploitative used of technology

If the learners would not be aware of these areas, these will continue to affect peoples and cultures, and would give gap between poor and rich countries. ET- 1 has something to apply which is necessary for instruction.

1.    Setting of learning objectives
2.    Designing specific learning experiences
3.    Evaluating the effectiveness at the learning experiences
4.    Revision as needed of the whole teaching- learning process

The educational Technology 1 served:
v   Orient the learner to the pervasiveness of educational technology in society.
v  To lend familiarization on how educational technology can be utilized as media for the avenues teaching learning process in the school.
v   Uplift the learner to human learning through the use of learning technology.
v  Impact the skills in planning, designing, using and evaluating the technology-enriched teaching-learning process.
v  To acquaint learners on basic aspects of community education, functions of the school media center, and finally
v  To introduce the learner to what is recognized as the third revolution in education, the computer.
REFLECTION
1.      Discuss the disparity in ed. Tech. advancement in schools of industrialized first world country and a still developing country, namely the Philippines.

Ø The schools of industrial First country have the advantage in terms of modern technologies being used by them in their education. The above mentioned countries use the most common source of information which is the internet. Every student in the other countries have their own PC or Laptops for online education wherein they need not go to school but instead they will stay at home and just answer those questions or test being e-mailed by their teachers. Unlike here in the Philippines we are behind of the advancement of the modern technologies to be use in our educational system. That's why some of the schools go back to the traditional teaching process especially those in the rural areas. There is really a disparity of the First countries and our very own country which is still developing. In this globally competitive world an individual should also go with the flow so one will not be left behind. And Education is an important component of any nation’s development process especially when it comes to educational technologies. The schools of industrial First country (such as the U.S., England, Japan, Singapore, Australia) are the most progressive country in the world, however, Philippines is still a developing country because there are many experimenting with such technologies and related programs to expand educational opportunities for their populations .

2.      Given the lack of resources in our rural areas in the Phil. What media can still be used for effective learning in schools?

Ø Visual aids, graphs, cloze test, mimeograph can still are used for effective learning. The teacher, himself, must be creative, resourceful and initiative enough in developing and using the said traditional media in order to catch the learners' attention and be able to learn out of it. Transfer of learning is very important and can be obtained with the used of instructional materials even a traditional one. “What matter is that the teacher is effective enough to make and present it to his students?"  You can even let the students go out of the classroom and go to the actual object.  For example, you are discussing about the parts of the leaves.  You can go to the garden of the school and discuss there.

3.      Computer shops are pervasive around schools, but these are mainly used for playing games. Without judging on the possibly dehumanizing effects to excessive computer game habits, how can a learner best use computer resources as they may be available in schools or at home.

Ø The learner should use the computer for information needed on their assignment or homework.  They can use the internet and surf for much information on all subject.  They should use the computer as a kind of library from which they can get references.  They should regard the computer as a kind of library.  So instead of going to the library you can just use the computer and internet. "A learner must have self-discipline of course. Playing games is not bad at all, excessive hours in playing games is the bad aspect. Parents should play great roles in guiding and monitoring their children in using the computer. Parents as well as teachers won't allow installing harsh computer games in personal computer but encourage only those friendly knowledge-based games. Set time limit also in using the computer.”
